Scripture: Job 30:17
Night pierces my bones; my gnawing pains never rest.
Thought for the Day: When we feel utterly exhausted, sale when the pain is shooting through every bone, medicine when even the smallest of movements causes something somewhere to creak or groan, then it is beyond time to turn to God for rest.
The “gnawing pains” of our lives—fears, frustrations, worries, and responsibilities can sap every bit of energy from us. It takes a lot of physical, mental and spiritual energy to get through any typical day, and if we let things build up and gnaw at us, if we let our minds recklessly feed into out worries; we will find ourselves quickly depleted.
One way to combat a restless mind is with real spiritual and physical rest. Fight restlessness with the peace that comes from prayer and meditation. Real rest comes when we make time in our lives to feel God’s ever-present grace flowing through our being. And after resting with God, it’s much easier to let go of our fears and frustrations.
Prayer: May I find moments of quiet reflection throughout my day, filled with knowledge of your presence around me, God of all being. Amen.
