Scripture: Esther 9:22
He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor.

Thought for the Day: As the Christmas ads begin to beat at my brain more loudly than the political campaign that just ended, buy cialis I find myself looking for quite spaces of solitude, away from the noise of commerce. I thought we might get a break after the election, but apparently the new norm in media is to consistently bombard us with loud and obnoxious. Maybe that’s not so new.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love the sights, sounds and smells of the holiday season. I like that every now and then we have a breezy, sea-scented day with temperatures in the 60s and 70s…

I love that the holidays are an opportunity for us to give of and to each other. I just hope the sentiment behind so many holidays—remembering and helping those in need of care, doesn’t get lost in all the noise of our postmodern, uber-connected, eyes-on-the-screen, SHOUTINYOURFACE world.

Prayer: I love modern technology, God, but I also understand it’s a huge distraction. Grant me the strength, inspiration, and desire to use every festival of celebration (and every piece of technology) to celebrate you, the Holy Activity in my life. Amen.
