Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
There are different kinds of gifts, sovaldi but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
Thought for the Day: For all the obvious discord in the world, I clearly see major changes happening in the way we relate to each other as human beings. God is working through each and every one of us, igniting our eternal connections (which have different names in different religions). The long-held belief that we all have to think, act, or look the same, or that “my way is the [only] right way,” is being pushed to the fringes of society.
Selfish, mean, and entitled are being replaced around the globe by sacrificial, loving, and equal. Societies that more closely reflect God’s universally loving, accepting, and just nature are being formed in large part because we are starting to see each other’s uniqueness as a gift. Think about the multi-ethnic neighborhoods of New York City, Chicago, or Paris. They are microcosms of the overall planet. Our distinct cultures, with their incredible foods, smells, colors, languages, and traditions, all have wonderful things to teach us about what it means to be human, and to be in relationship with each other as divinely inspired beings.
Prayer: I love pizza, Lord, but I don’t want to eat it every night. Thank you for the astounding diversity of creation, and for helping me see the important gifts all my brothers and sisters have to offer. Amen.
