Thought for the Day:  Realizing a personal connection to God, the type of connection Jesus had through the Christ, is empowering. It forces us to stand up against injustice, to speak out against the status quo, and to let everyone know there is a deeper and more meaningful way to live. When we are filled with Spirit, we cannot help but live a Jesus-like life, a counter-cultural life as radical today as Jesus’ was then.

In a very real way, Jesus shows us what humanity can be like when it is connected to the Supreme Consciousness of the universe. Richard Rohr calls Jesus “the archetypal human being,” and I agree. When we look at Jesus as everything we can and should be, we develop a connection with God that changes our perception of reality in astounding ways. When we awaken to our own Christ-like nature, then we too become an active part of God’s work in the world, living an active faith, filling the world with understanding, hope, peace and love.

Prayer: Open my eyes so I might see you in all existence, Holy God. Open my heart so I might be filled with your cosmic love. Ignite the Christ in my life, so that I might be a helpful, healing presence in a broken wold. Amen.
