Scripture: Psalm 103:1
O my soul, view bless God. From head to toe, doctor I’ll bless God’s holy name! Don’t forget a single blessing!
Thought for the Day: When we first got our puppy, I felt terrible leaving him at home all day in his crate while I was at work. One of my colleagues at work tried to make me feel better by telling me that dogs have no sense of time… if you leave them for a few minutes to check the mail, or if you’re gone to work for ten hours, it’s all the same to them. They’ll just be happy to see you when you return. We’ve had this puppy for eight months. When we come home, all of us have to brace ourselves because the little ten-pound puppy we adopted is now gigantic. He’s always so excited to see us, he knocks us over when we open his crate. The dog definitely needs training, but his inexhaustible enthusiasm is admirable!
“Consistent enthusiasm” is a funny concept to ponder. I tend to think of excitement and enthusiasm as being spontaneous emotional responses to the events and conditions of life. Life is full of reasons to be excited and enthusiastic. Hopefully, over time, I allow the lessons of life and love to build rather than diminish my enthusiasm. But even in the ten minutes, hours, months, or years when I feel abandoned or alone, I hope I respond to the love of God with child-like (puppy-like) enthusiasm.
Prayer: Loving God, thank you for filling my life with so many reasons to be enthusiastic. May my response to your loving-kindness consistently and unceasingly overflow as a testament of joyful adoration. Amen.
