Scripture: Acts 14:20
But when the disciples surrounded him, viagra he got up and went into the city. The next day he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.
Thought for the Day: The Romans arguably built the first international highway system. Many of their roads and bridges are still intact and in use today, buy all over the world. Roman legions were full of talented civil engineers who were also trained as soldiers. Although the network of roads was built to hasten the movement of Roman troops throughout the lands, the roads were also used for commerce and a variety of other tasks.
Eventually, those same roads and bridges allowed the Gospel to spread quickly throughout the ancient world. Paul, Barnabas and others used the Roman infrastructure to spread the very anti-empirical Gospel message of love, peace, redemption, and loyalty to God.
I think it’s interesting that something built by humans for war was used by God to deliver a counter-cultural message. Without Roman roads, it is unlikely the Gospel would have survived Jesus’ death. Because of them, we are still Disciples of Christ today.
Prayer: God who transforms the mundane into the sacred, may my journeys always be on roads paved by your infinite blessings. Amen.
