Scripture: Judges 4:17 (TNIV)
Sisera, rx meanwhile, online fled on foot to the tent of Jael, and the wife of Heber the Kenite, because there was an alliance between Jabin king of Hazor and the family of Heber the Kenite.

Thought for the Day: This seemingly innocuous piece of Scripture turns out to be a pivotal moment in the history of pre-monarchic Israel. Sisera flees a battle in which he lost 900 iron-clad chariots. Since the Kenite tribe is an ally of the Assyrian force Sisera commands, he expects to find sanctuary in Jael’s tent. Instead, she drives a tent peg through his skull, killing him dead, and delivering him into the hands of Barak, the Isarelite general

Decisions, decisions, decisions. The choices we make have a lasting effect, even if they’re choices that seem insignificant to us. There are no insignificant decisions. Everything we do has a profound, if subtle, effect on the people and the world around us, long into the future. If we make our decisions from a place of love and compassion, rather than from fear and hatred, then the ripples of our actions that move far out into the future will also bring love and compassion to the world.

Prayer: Omnipotent God, may the decisions I make be based in love for you, so that the effect of my actions may carry love, compassion, mercy and justice far out into the future. Amen.
