Scripture: Ephesians 1:17-19 (The Message)
But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, and Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!
Thought for the Day: Life takes guts. It just does. Sometimes the mere act of waking up to face a new day is an act of courage. Deciding how to best guide our children, dealing with health concerns, caring for an aging parent or partner, taking a stand on issues that need our attention, job challenges, finances… the list of stressors adds up quickly. There are times when one of those stressors clearly supersedes the others, and times when they blend into a stew of stress that wears us down.
All the time though—whether we are running on adrenaline or feeling absolutely out of fuel—God is working extravagantly in our lives, providing endless energy and boundless strength. In our greatest time of need, when help may come from unexpected sources or seem to allude us completely, we can trust that God is there, providing the clear vision that sees us through to the other side, or at least illuminates the spot where we are at the moment.
Prayer: God of infinite love and the source of my strength, please keep my senses attuned to your call and my life open to your extravagant workmanship so that you are glorified in every event of my life. Amen.
