Scripture: 1 John 2:3-4
We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Those who say, diagnosis “I know him, cialis ” but do not do what he commands are liars, and the truth is not in them.

Thought for the Day: Woof! Harsh words from the Johannine community. If we talk about loving our neighbor, but constantly try to destroy our neighbor, we’re liars. If we talk about loving God, but don’t reflect God’s mercy and love in our actions, we are liars. If we talk about social and economic justice, but perpetuate a system of oppression, we’re liars.

John doesn’t pull any punches. If we don’t walk the talk, we are disingenuous. John suggests that one way we can do this is by simply shutting our yappers now and then. We do love to talk! Change the channels on your cablesateldishnet box sometime and count the number of talk shows. John suggests maybe we talk to much, and instead should concentrate on our walk—our walk with God. It is a walk where we stop talking and listen for God’s voice.

We can always take a walk with God and ask for advice. God has been instructing us how to be human for thousands of years. If we want to not only tell the truth, but walk the truth, I think we can only do that when we’re firmly holding God’s hand, closing our mouths, and opening our hearts to listen to God’s truth of love, justice, and equality for all of us.

Prayer: God of Wisdom, may our lives be blessed by an ever closer walk with you. Amen.
