Scripture: Revelation 7:9-10
After this I looked, medical and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, buy cialis from every nation, find tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
Thought for the Day: Generally, the first thing people think about when they think about the Book of Revelation is the terrible apocalyptic battle it so intensely and graphically describes as the end of the world (which is itself a misinterpretation of the Scripture). At its core Revelation is a book about reconciliation, and the end of an unjust world that gives way to God’s just world.
The battle described in Revelation is not a literal war between literal armies of good and evil. It’s about a battle for the very definition of humanity, a spiritual struggle that God ultimately wins, ending our horrendous atrocities against one another forever. The real end of the world is an end to racism, sexism, hate, fear, hoarding, and terror. Revelation is about the end of the human world and the final, permanent establishment of God’s world. Revelation is about God’s people returning to God. And you’ll notice the author is clear that we return as we are: many tribes, people and languages, carrying Palm branches—an ancient symbol of peace—a peace with God and from God, for all humankind, once and for all.
Prayer: Mold me into an instrument of your peace, God of Justice; send me forth to proclaim your unwavering love; use me to reconcile the world to you. Amen.
