Scripture: Romans 12:4-5
For just as each of us has one body with many members, help and these members do not all have the same function, sildenafil so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
Thought for the Day: Every human on the planet is an important part of our whole (and our wholeness). Each of us has significant gifts that, combined with the gifts of others, allow the species to live in unity and harmony. When we don’t share our gifts (or more typically, when we refuse to acknowledge the gifts of others) there is disharmony, war, and bloodshed.
Nobody is useless. Nobody deserves to be categorized and judged based on skin color, gender, or some other human-made division. We exist as the human species because we are all necessary parts of a greater force than ourselves. We all have a unique purpose—every one of us. Biologically speaking, we are one race, the human race. Spiritually speaking, we are one people, people of God. We perceive differences in each other, but they are only the perceptions of a limited human point of view. As Paul says elsewhere, we “See through a glass darkly.” When we start looking deeper, either through the lens of science or faith (or better, with a healthy balance of both), we see there is no difference in our physical or spiritual makeup. We are one. Remembering that helps us re-member humanity too.
Prayer: May I learn to work in harmony with others the way my arms and legs work in harmony with the rest of my body. Amen.
