Scripture: Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, sovaldi sale patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Thought for the Day: Discovered in the journal of a 15-year-old girl named Samsara, who lived sometime around 190 CE.
“Locusts. As if the drought isn’t bad enough, they show up and finish off what little there may have been for us. Sometimes I wonder why G-d lets us starve. Why does G-d send the locusts to destroy the crops, the crops we grow for His glory and His people? Do we not obey G-d’s commands? I honor my mother and father all the time!
My mother tells me to be hopeful, because G-d has always taken care of us. After all, he led us out of Egypt, didn’t he? But I don’t know. Sometimes hope is so hard to find. We’re all so hungry. Everything is covered in locusts. My father says enemies surround us. Maybe that’s why God is angry and sends the locusts. I’m pretty sure we’re not supposed to have enemies.
Mommy tells me to remember the words of the Psalm, “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Sometimes I sing it to myself at night, trying to fall asleep over the noise of the locusts, and the chariots gathering at the gates of the city.”
To be continued…
Prayer: Even when I’m surrounded by enemies—with or without wings, Lord, strengthen my resolve in you. Remind me that your love is enough for all of us. Your love, O God, melts the iron hearts of all those who oppose you. Your love, O God, silences the deafening machinery of war. Your love, O God, fills me with hope for a better day. Amen.
