Scripture: Romans 10:15
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Thought for the Day: It’s rainy and dark in Southwest Florida today. I like this weather, ampoule but I don’t have to live outside in it. I know there are good people at the shelters in town though, order doing their best to care for our brothers and sisters, our nieces and nephews lost on the streets of Naples, and too easily forgotten. And while our church regularly supplies local food banks and supports the NGO’s in town working directly with our homeless population, I still can’t help but think, Why don’t you get out there and help, too? Do something.

And I think a lot of us have that thought, especially those of us in ministry, because every now and then you think to yourself, Man, I’m always drawing attention to these issues, but when am I ever really in the street providing shelter? And I think we have to realize that there’s also value in being able to bring both good news to the forgotten, and to draw attention to their issues by acting as advocates, by proclaiming their existence and value to society, rather than tossing them aside and pretending that’s okay.

We all have unique gifts. Our duty to God is to discover them and use them, whatever they are, until absolutely every person in every culture on the planet is treated by every other person on the planet as a child of God: valued, forgiven, loved, and worthy of living a dignified life.

Prayer: Holy God, who gives voice to the oppressed, join our voices in unison proclamation, so our civic leaders take notice of the neglected family members in our towns, and take action to insure their safety. Amen.
