Thought for the Day: As we journey through Eastertide, diagnosis resurrection has been on my mind. I know many Christians have a literal understanding of the resurrection of the dead, but I think that’s really a pretty shallow reading of Scripture. Resurrection is a recurring theme in the Bible, and its deeper meaning is one of hope. There is always hope that things will change—more importantly, there is always hope that people will change, and that through God we will be resurrected from selfishness to selflessness, from hateful to loving, from motivated by money to motivated by compassion.

Resurrection is about the hope—both God’s and ours, that the world not only will be reborn, but also is currently being reborn. Resurrection doesn’t come after death. It’s a process that’s happening right now. It’s a process of hope. Have faith. Have hope! We are all being changed, right now.

Prayer: I place my hope in you, Holy God, knowing that you are slowly but surely resurrecting every one of us into a new, more compassionate and loving mind. Amen.
