Scripture: Psalm 131:3
Israel, there put your hope in the Lord
both now and forevermore.
Thought for the Day: Discovered in the journal of a 15-year-old girl named Samsara, sovaldi who lived sometime around 190 CE.*
“Something’s out there. I’m not sure what it is, but I can feel it. When I was in the wheat fields today (what’s left of them), I didn’t really see it as much as I felt it. There was a buzz in the air, a real buzz. We all heard it... It was powerful, like the way the air feels when there’s lightning; calming, exciting and terrifying all at once. I thought maybe it was G-d. Then I turned around and I saw it. Or I guess I should say I saw them. There must have been millions of them. Locusts. That hypnotic buzz suddenly took form, a huge black cloud of hungry beasts descending on us. Suddenly, that gentle buzz sounded like all the chariots in Babylon were attacking. We all took off running, covering our mouths so we wouldn’t accidentally swallow a Locust and choke to death. Huh. A funny end to a hungry life, I suppose.”
To be continued…
Prayer: Have mercy on us, O Lord! Nourish our souls when even our bellies are hungry; send us love when we’re lonely, and hope when all seems hopeless. Amen.
