Scripture: Lamentations 3:22-23
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Thought for the Day: There are some weeks when one day blends into the next, and I’m barely one step ahead of being completely flattened by something like a “steamroller of stress” that’s gaining momentum all the time. Yet even as I become more exhausted from running, somehow I am never consumed. I may not feel physically and mentally refreshed after a sleepless night worrying about events that have occurred and others that are imminent, but I can rely on the fact that God’s compassion is in a constant state of regeneration, drawing me in and caring for my every need. I don’t have to seek the help or do anything to deserve it. Rather, by the grace of our Loving Creator, I am unceasingly renewed.
Prayer: God of grace and compassion, thank you for your faithfulness. Even (and especially) when I’m too tired to know what I need to keep from being consumed, thank you for providing the comfort and renewal that sustains and nourishes me—body, soul, and spirit. Amen.
