Scripture: Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, sovaldi sale because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Thought for the Day: The reward the author is speaking about is not bling and mansions and a good job. This passage is often misinterpreted by purveyors of the “Gospel of Wealth” to mean that if we just believe hard enough, God will give us presents, sort of like Santa Claus but with even better stuff!

The reward we’re being told about though, is a spiritual reward, one that can only come through faith in God. This is not faith that God will smite our enemies, or faith that God will help us pass the Calculus test (I wish!). This is simply faith that God exists and is the universal force of love, the only thing in the universe out of which all other things are formed. This sort of faith changes our perception of reality forever, because now we see beyond wealth and power and stuff, into a world of wonder, amazement, and awesome beauty that stops us dead in our tracks, our souls overwhelmed by the feeling of complete, accepting, pure, unadulterated love. That’s what faith can do. And I think that’s a lot better than bling.

Prayer: Eventually, the luster of gold wears off. But when my faith is placed only in you, my light, my sustainer, my Holy Essence, I shine eternally by your grace. Thank you for the greatest gift of all, dear God, the gift of faith. Amen.
