Scripture: Job 7:1a
Do not mortals have hard service on earth?
Thought for the Day: Jesus was a commanding presence. He was tall, cialis almost preternaturally so, buy with eyes that bored a hole in your being with unbearably intense compassion. When he was around, treatment you wanted to be around him. He seemed to have everything under control. Jesus and his companions had wandered all over the Empire, but this place surprised him. For months he had been talking and teaching about his vision of a new world, one where all people considered each other equals. And here, in this backwater, dirty, squalid, stinky outpost in the middle of nowhere, he found what (he thought) could never exist on this planet: people from all walks of life, an ethnic representation of every class of citizen and non-citizen imaginable, eating, drinking, telling stories, and sharing life with each other.
Jesus and his traveling companions were welcomed with open arms, wined and dined and regaled with stories of the road and the outpost. For this melting pot of civilization, Jesus was one of them—a fellow itinerant, one who understood the importance of equality of soul and spirit. Yet, there was something different about Jesus, too. He wasn’t there to trade goods or sell services, then move on, like the rest of the traders and merchants. Jesus just wanted to talk. And in this room, with these unique people, he found a very attentive audience.
