Scripture: Jeremiah 51:55
The Lord will destroy Babylon;
he will silence her noisy din.
Thought for the Day: It’s a noisy world, rx and it’s getting louder. It’s also becoming more and more difficult to get away from the noisy din. Many of us remember a time before cellphones. When I was a kid, salve we had one phone in the house, and you had to stick your finger in the rotary dial and pull the numbers all the way around, seven times (at least) to make a call. It was a slow and more intentional process. Nobody ever called just to say, “LOL!”
Today, we’re constantly connected. This has its advantages, but it’s also created an “always on” society with very few quiet spaces. I know most of us are caught up in the noisy rush of progress, but may I suggest that taking some time to find a few quiet moments throughout the day might actually make you more efficient? If we constantly feed ourselves sensory stimulation, how will we hear the voice of God above the noisy tumult created by our own overworked minds?
Prayer: Quiet the Babylon of my mind, God of peace. Amen.
